In Highlands, NJ, many crawl spaces, like this one, need our expertise. Poor insulation causes cold floors in winter and drafty rooms, while in summer, hot, humid air enters through the stack effect, leading to mold, dry rot, and other problems. We specialize in insulating neglected crawl spaces to ensure year-round comfort and energy efficiency. Our solutions include installing SilverGlo foam boards on walls, spray foaming exposed rim joists, and encapsulating dirt floors with CleanSpace liner. These measures greatly enhance homeowner comfort and efficiency.
This kneewall in Highlands, NJ was in poor condition for storage, causing extreme temperatures in the adjoining rooms and wood warping from humidity and constant fluctuations. Any items stored here would have quickly deteriorated. We solved the problem by installing Foamax boards under the rafters and sealing them with foam sealant. This created a conditioned space that supports storage, keeps temperatures consistent, and helps the homeowner save on energy bills.
This customer's front wall was getting hit with direct wind because his home was facing a lake in Ocean Grove, NJ. It was leaving his home uncomfortable because they could feel a draft while sitting in their living room right inside the wall. It was also across from a busy main street in Asbury, so it sometimes got kind of loud in the house from across the street. Dense packing the wall will both seal and insulate the wall, stopping any draft or other effects from the harsh winds. It will also reduce the noise the customers are dealing with from across the street from the shops and leave them feeling more comfortable in their home.
Densely packing cellulose inside the wall from outside of the home is simple and not destructive. You can easily remove a row of siding and drill a hole in the wood below to access the cavities. Then, after you are done you can just plug the hole and reinstall the siding without a problem.
During our free home evaluation in Ocean Grove, NJ, we discovered that the attic had not been air sealed and was poorly insulated. These issues were causing significant air leaks and reducing the home’s comfort and efficiency. To fix this, we sealed all top plates, gaps, cracks, and plumbing and wiring penetrations with foam sealant, stopping conditioned air from escaping into the attic. Once the air sealing was complete, we installed TruSoft cellulose insulation, bringing the attic up to the recommended R-60 level. As a result, the home is now more comfortable, and the homeowner is enjoying lower energy bills.
During our free inspection in Ocean Grove, NJ, we found that the can lights were leaking conditioned air into the attic. The attic also had inadequate insulation and lacked proper air sealing. By sealing the top plates and all wire and pipe penetrations, we were able to tighten up the home. We installed can light covers and sealed them with foam to stop air leaks. Once everything was sealed, we blew in TruSoft cellulose insulation to the optimal R-60 level. The “after” photo was taken before we added the full amount of insulation. Now, the homeowner enjoys a more comfortable home and lower monthly bills.
