Leaky Can Lights and Inadequate Insulation in Bradley Beach, NJ

Upon inspection of the homeowner’s attic in Bradley Beach, NJ, it's clear that the insulation is insufficient. The presence of dirt buildup in the fiberglass insulation around the can lights suggests inadequate air sealing, leading to the escape of conditioned air into the attic. Moreover, visible gaps in the attic insulation worsen the problem. To address these issues, we propose installing TiteShell covers over the can lights and sealing them with ZypFoam. Additionally, we will seal the remainder of the attic floor and bolster insulation with TruSoft cellulose to improve both comfort and energy efficiency.

Project Location: Bradley Beach, NJ
I bought a modular home built in the 80's. It seems to be extraordinarily poorly insulated. There is a breeze through the outlets.
Project Location: Bradley Beach, NJ
I just bought a house built in 1977, and am interested in upgrading (or at least rationalizing) the heating and cooling system in conjunction with a larger-scale renovation that I am planning. The Central a/c system seems to have a suboptimal distributions of ducts and registers, skips some rooms entirely, and lacks the ability to heat, filter, or purify the air. And the compressor is situated precisely where I would like to add an exterior door. As for the heating system, it is gas-fired hydronic baseboards which limit my ability to remove walls, add doors, etc (besides being a wonderful way to heat a part of the room that is not necessary to keep warm). I'm thinking ground source heat pump through an upgraded forced air system, or through mini-splits, or both, and maybe hydronic radiant panels in the ceilings of the first floor (and the floors of the second) for supplemental heating. And perhaps a tankless water heater. But I'd love for someone knowlegeable to come down and have a look. Particularly this week while I'm on vacation...
