Rim Joist Spray Foam in Red Bank NJ Stops Drafts and Cold Floors

A homeowner in Red Bank, NJ, was dealing with cold floors and drafts during the colder months. Their basement rim joists were left uninsulated, allowing cold air to leak into the home and create those chilly floors. Moisture marks on the wood also showed signs of fluctuating temperatures. Not only do these temperature shifts contribute to discomfort, but when moisture meets cold air against warmer indoor air, it can lead to mold, mildew, or even dry rot. By spray foaming the rim joists and sill plates, we sealed out the cold air and stopped the drafts. Now, this homeowner enjoys a warmer, more comfortable home while saving money on energy bills.

Attic insulation in Neptune, NJ

This is a typical attic in a 1970's age home in Neptune, NJ. The before picture shows the 2x6x16 ceiling rafters with 3" fiberglass insulation batts between rafters. The AFTER pictures shows the same area, picture taken from a storage deck, but shows approx 17" of cellulose insulation installed.

The original insulation at 3" with numerous gaps, voids and depressions was functioning at approx R-5 as rated by the Building Performance Institute. The installed cellulose functions at an effective R-60+, which is considered optimum in this climate.

Effective Solutions for Leaky Ducts and Insulation Issues in Wall Township, NJ

A homeowner in Wall Township, NJ, was struggling with high energy bills and discomfort in their home. During our attic inspection, we discovered leaky ducts, a lack of air sealing on the attic floor, and ineffective fiberglass insulation. We removed the old fiberglass insulation; thoroughly air sealed the attic floor, encapsulated the ducts with SilverGo foam boards to prevent leaks, and installed TruSoft cellulose insulation to an optimal R-60 level. Now, the home has a well-sealed, fully insulated attic and efficient, leak-free ducts. Our upgrades will improve the homeowner's comfort, enhance indoor air quality, and increase energy efficiency to reduce their energy bills.

Wall Township, NJ Home Gets R-60 Insulation, Storage Decking and Leak-Proof Hatch Cover

In Wall Township, NJ, a homeowner was struggling with attic air leakage at the pull-down stairs, insufficient insulation, and limited storage space. Our team upgraded the attic by installing 4-inch SilverGlo foam boards with a radiant barrier over the joist bays, blocking the bays, and dense-packing insulation where it was missing. We air-sealed all seams and gaps in the floor, added plywood over the SilverGlo, and installed wooden retaining walls before blowing in TruSoft cellulose insulation to achieve the optimal R-60 level. To provide a lasting solution for leaks and improve energy efficiency, we installed a David Lewis Hatch Cover over the pull-down stairs with custom wooden framing and weather stripping, creating a tight, reliable seal. With these upgrades, the attic is now fully insulated, leak-free, and provides safer, more functional storage while making the home more comfortable and energy-efficient.

Attic Upgrade with Blown-In Insulation & Air Sealing in Wall, NJ

In this Wall, NJ home, the attic was under-insulated and full of air leaks, allowing heat to escape in the winter and enter in the summer. This led to drafts, cold floors, uneven temperatures, and higher energy bills. Our team first air sealed all gaps, cracks, and penetrations with foam sealant. We then addressed leaky ducts, connections, and recessed lighting, sealing those areas as well. After installing proper ventilation with vent baffles, we brought the attic up to an R-60 level with blown-in cellulose insulation. The result is a tighter, more efficient home with improved comfort, fewer drafts, and lower heating and cooling costs.
