This beautiful home in Allenhurst, NJ features a stunning wraparound porch, but it was also the source of major leaks. With no insulation in the porch ceiling (or overhang), outside air was leaking in, and costly conditioned air was leaking out. When we opened up the overhang, we found no insulation at all; just empty space allowing year-round discomfort. Our expert team installed SilverGlo foam boards along the overhang walls and carefully sealed all seams and gaps to stop air movement. Because this area supports the second floor, the lack of insulation was also causing cold floors in winter and hot, stuffy rooms in summer. After insulating and sealing the space, we restored the porch ceiling, helping the homeowner enjoy greater comfort and lower energy bills.

This customer's front wall was getting hit with direct wind because his home was facing a lake in Ocean Grove, NJ. It was leaving his home uncomfortable because they could feel a draft while sitting in their living room right inside the wall. It was also across from a busy main street in Asbury, so it sometimes got kind of loud in the house from across the street. Dense packing the wall will both seal and insulate the wall, stopping any draft or other effects from the harsh winds. It will also reduce the noise the customers are dealing with from across the street from the shops and leave them feeling more comfortable in their home.
Densely packing cellulose inside the wall from outside of the home is simple and not destructive. You can easily remove a row of siding and drill a hole in the wood below to access the cavities. Then, after you are done you can just plug the hole and reinstall the siding without a problem.
During our free home evaluation in Ocean Grove, NJ, we discovered that the attic had not been air sealed and was poorly insulated. These issues were causing significant air leaks and reducing the home’s comfort and efficiency. To fix this, we sealed all top plates, gaps, cracks, and plumbing and wiring penetrations with foam sealant, stopping conditioned air from escaping into the attic. Once the air sealing was complete, we installed TruSoft cellulose insulation, bringing the attic up to the recommended R-60 level. As a result, the home is now more comfortable, and the homeowner is enjoying lower energy bills.
