Crawlspace Encapsulation and Sump Pump Installation in Point Pleasant, NJ

A homeowner in Point Pleasant, NJ, scheduled one of our free home evaluations after noticing concerns with their crawlspace. During the inspection, we found a vented crawlspace with standing water and a sump pump that was no longer functioning properly. Standing water and excess moisture in a crawlspace can lead to mold, mildew, insects, and poor indoor air quality. We installed a full crawlspace encapsulation to help keep the area dry, clean, and protected. As part of the project, we sealed the crawlspace vents with rigid foam board, insulated the foundation walls, and spray-foamed the rim joists and sill plates to help reduce outside air infiltration. We also cleaned out the sump pit and installed a sump pump system (SmartSump) with a WaterWatch alarm to alert the homeowner in the event of a plumbing leak or power failure. To finish the encapsulation, we installed a vapor barrier to help maintain a cleaner, drier, and properly insulated crawlspace while protecting the bottom of the home.

Crawlspace Encapsulation Creates a Healthier Home in Point Pleasant, NJ

This crawlspace in Point Pleasant, NJ had open vents and an ineffective vapor barrier that allowed outside air and moisture to enter the space. To address these issues, we sealed the crawlspace vents and installed rigid foam boards along the foundation walls to help prevent outside air infiltration. We also spray-foamed the rim joists to create an additional air and moisture barrier. The rigid foam boards helps reduce air leakage and moisture migration through the porous concrete block walls. To complete the encapsulation, we installed a heavy-duty vapor barrier across the ground and partially up the walls and support columns, carefully sealing all seams, edges, and penetrations with tape and spray foam as needed. The result is a properly encapsulated crawlspace that helps improve energy efficiency, reduce moisture problems, and create a healthier, more comfortable home for the homeowner.

Inadequate Crawl Space Insulation in Fair Haven, NJ

A homeowner in Fair Haven, NJ, faced issues with a crawl space that had inadequate insulation. The porous brick foundation walls and exposed rim joists allowed air to infiltrate both the crawl space and the house. Additionally, moisture from the dirt floor contributed to the home's discomfort. To resolve these issues, we insulated the foundation walls with SilverGlo insulation boards, spray-foamed the rim joists, and encapsulated the dirt floor with a vapor barrier to prevent gases and moisture from rising. These enhancements have significantly improved the home’s comfort and energy efficiency.

Uncomfortable Rooms in Fair Haven, NJ

In Fair Haven, NJ, a homeowner had cold drafty rooms in the winter and hot stuffy rooms in the summer. The problem was linked to insufficient insulation in their attic, particularly along the wall adjacent to the conditioned room. Upon inspection, we discovered dirty insulation, indicating that conditioned air was leaking into the attic, causing the owner to pay more and making their room uncomfortable. To address this problem, we installed SilverGlo insulation panels on the adjoining wall and sealed any gaps with our orange ZypFoam sealant. As a result of these improvements, the homeowner now enjoys a more comfortable and energy-efficient room with vaulted ceilings.

Bathroom Exhaust Improperly Ventilated and Insulated in Fair Haven, NJ

Our crew installed a SuperDeck for a homeowner in Fair Haven, NJ, and discovered that the bathroom exhaust hose or duct was neither insulated nor venting correctly. The exhaust was directed into the soffit, but the duct or hose was crushed, preventing proper ventilation. We replaced the damaged duct or hose with an insulated one and ensured it was correctly connected to a vent hood through the roof or gable end wall. This prevents moisture buildup, mold growth, and rot in the soffits or roof rafters. By keeping moisture out of the attic, we’re improving the home’s health and indoor air quality.
