A homeowner in Fair Haven, NJ, faced issues with a crawl space that had inadequate insulation. The porous brick foundation walls and exposed rim joists allowed air to infiltrate both the crawl space and the house. Additionally, moisture from the dirt floor contributed to the home's discomfort. To resolve these issues, we insulated the foundation walls with SilverGlo insulation boards, spray-foamed the rim joists, and encapsulated the dirt floor with a vapor barrier to prevent gases and moisture from rising. These enhancements have significantly improved the home’s comfort and energy efficiency.
In Fair Haven, NJ, a homeowner had cold drafty rooms in the winter and hot stuffy rooms in the summer. The problem was linked to insufficient insulation in their attic, particularly along the wall adjacent to the conditioned room. Upon inspection, we discovered dirty insulation, indicating that conditioned air was leaking into the attic, causing the owner to pay more and making their room uncomfortable. To address this problem, we installed SilverGlo insulation panels on the adjoining wall and sealed any gaps with our orange ZypFoam sealant. As a result of these improvements, the homeowner now enjoys a more comfortable and energy-efficient room with vaulted ceilings.
Our crew installed a SuperDeck for a homeowner in Fair Haven, NJ, and discovered that the bathroom exhaust hose or duct was neither insulated nor venting correctly. The exhaust was directed into the soffit, but the duct or hose was crushed, preventing proper ventilation. We replaced the damaged duct or hose with an insulated one and ensured it was correctly connected to a vent hood through the roof or gable end wall. This prevents moisture buildup, mold growth, and rot in the soffits or roof rafters. By keeping moisture out of the attic, we’re improving the home’s health and indoor air quality.
This home is a 100+ year old house on a slab, with minimal storage space. The customer also had comfort issues, to hot upstairs in the summer. The before picture shows the attic space used for storage along with the central heating and coolng system in the attic. This is very inefficient space for storage of mechanical systems. It gets up to 140 degrees in the summer. The AFTER pictures shows a completed super attic, where the air and thermal boundry is moved to the roof line, bringing the space inside. Now the attic is always with a few degrees of the conditioned space below and suitable for storage. This solution provides excellent insulation performance and maintains a fully vented roof assembly. Nice
Our customer in Spring Lake, NJ contacted us for their poorly insulated attic. The homeowner’s were experiencing uncomfortable and drafty rooms. A poorly insulated attic floor allows heat from your living space to be lost to the outdoors through the vented attic.
Our complete Attic SuperDeck treatment is an innovative solution that air seals and insulates the top of your home while providing the maximum storage space possible.
Looking at the before picture we can see plywood and wooden planks over the attic floor. If the ceiling joists are not filled with insulation we then use our TruSoft cellulose insulation to fill them in. Next our team installed 4 inch rigid insulation foam boards called SilverGlo. Our SilverGlo is installed across the bulk of the attic floor and sealed to provide an R-41 value of insulated storage decking.
Finally as seen in the after picture we use wood sheets that are installed with special long screws over the SilverGlo to complete this project. The results create a much warmer, more comfortable home, lower fuel and electric bills, home easier to heat and cool, lots of attic storage.
