This 90 Year Old Home in Little Silver, NJ had almost no insulation in the attic! With a brand new HVAC system just recently installed, this homeowner wanted to protect both that system and the rest of the home from the unforgiving outside temperatures. The best way to do that was to encapsulate this whole attic which is now what we refer to as a SUPER ATTIC! This Super Attic Was sheathed with polyisocyanurate foam board and sealed with expanding polyurethane foam in order to truly seal away the extreme temperatures of the summer and winter and let the HVAC system run in a protected area so it is not fighting extreme temperatures for all of its life. This will allow the system to not work as hard and last longer. This treatment is also keeping a lot more conditioned air inside of the house and not letting the air that gets pumped in to escape through the previously leaky attic. Overall this project was very effective in increasing the overall efficiency and comfort of the home.
