Uncomfortable in their new home, these customers in Sea Girt, NJ have been experiencing a few problems in their home that have been majorly affecting their comfort. One of them was that the foyer and the living room with cathedral ceilings were roasting hot in the summer months. In order to keep their air conditioned air inside the house and the summer heat out, Dave Hoh's Home Comfort and Energy Experts recommended to re-insulate the attic because the customers currently only had 8" fiberglass batts covering their unsealed attic. Using 9" of cellulose to cover the rest of the insulation, along with air sealing the entire attic, the total R-Value(resistance to heat flow) of the attic insulation went from R-26 to R-60, the max recommended for this climate zone. This left the customers with a complete different feel of comfort in their house and will save them a considerable amount in energy costs!
