Attic Insulation & Air Sealing in Marlboro, NJ
Challenge
In Marlboro, NJ, we encountered a typical attic with old fiberglass insulation failing to insulate effectively. Upon inspection, we discovered the attic was not properly air sealed, allowing conditioned air to escape and leading to higher energy bills and discomfort for the homeowner.
Solution
Our approach involves removing the old insulation and meticulously air seal the attic floor's top plates and any gaps or drill holes using ZypFoam sealant. We ensure proper installation of vent baffles and the reconnection of any loose duct connections. Additionally, we insulate and seal the ducts using mastic tape to prevent air leakage.
To enhance insulation, we construct wooden retaining walls and fill the attic with TruSoft cellulose insulation, achieving an R-value of R-60. The result, a home that is both more comfortable and energy-efficient for the homeowner.
