Rotted Crawl Space Access Door in Leonardo, NJ
Challenge
This Crawl Space in Leonardo, NJ, was not properly insulated and sealed. Upon inspecting the crawl space we immediately found the entrance door completely rotted. This is a clear sign that warm, humid air leaks through the access door during the summer causing condensation all over the crawl space. During the winter, cold air leaks through the access door causing cold floors. In addition these issues will cause higher fuel and electric bills.
Solution
We installed our CleanSpace Encapsulation System with our TerraBlock Floor Insulation and our SilverGlo Board Insulation. Using our Orange ZypFoam we sealed up any seams or gaps of the SilverGlo. After the installation of the SilverGlo we can properly install the TerraBlock insulation. This insulation has graphite infused into the foam to increase the R-value by 24% over standard EPS foam.
The crew then spikes down the TerraBlock foam to the ground to help add durability and more insulation to the cold ground. Finally, we add the heavy duty 20 mil thick CleanSpace liner over the TerraBlock insulation and spike it to the ground. Once this is done, we can fasten and seal the liner to the walls using our Orange ZypFoam.
After our CleanSpace Encapsulation process is completed, we then replace the old rotted crawl space access door with a new frame and door. Once the door is replaced, our crew then installs weather stripping on the inside door frame. Lastly, we install SilverGlo Board Insulation to the back of the crawl space access door to further insulate and seal any unwanted outside air. This treatment will prevent unwanted air or moisture and rot from ruining your crawl space and to help maintain a comfort level in your house. Plus our customers will now enjoy a lower fuel and electric bill because of our help.
